Overview:
This project aims to strengthen municipal waste management systems in Georgia by introducing circular economy practices, enhancing institutional capacity, and fostering stakeholder engagement across key regions.
Objectives:
- To reduce municipal solid waste through improved recycling and composting programs
- To align local waste policies with EU directives and international standards
- To build the capacity of municipal governments in planning and monitoring waste services
- To raise public awareness on sustainable consumption and waste reduction
Key Activities:
- Conducting baseline assessments and stakeholder consultations
- Developing municipal Circular Economy Action Plans (CEAPs)
- Organizing technical workshops and study tours
- Piloting source separation and community recycling programs
- Monitoring performance indicators and environmental impact
Expected Results:
- 4 municipalities equipped with CEAPs and trained personnel
- At least 25% increase in recycling rates in pilot areas
- Reduction in landfill use and improved waste collection efficiency
- Strengthened collaboration between public, private, and civil society actors
