Overview:

This project aims to strengthen municipal waste management systems in Georgia by introducing circular economy practices, enhancing institutional capacity, and fostering stakeholder engagement across key regions.

Objectives:

  • To reduce municipal solid waste through improved recycling and composting programs
  • To align local waste policies with EU directives and international standards
  • To build the capacity of municipal governments in planning and monitoring waste services
  • To raise public awareness on sustainable consumption and waste reduction

Key Activities:

  • Conducting baseline assessments and stakeholder consultations
  • Developing municipal Circular Economy Action Plans (CEAPs)
  • Organizing technical workshops and study tours
  • Piloting source separation and community recycling programs
  • Monitoring performance indicators and environmental impact

Expected Results:

  • 4 municipalities equipped with CEAPs and trained personnel
  • At least 25% increase in recycling rates in pilot areas
  • Reduction in landfill use and improved waste collection efficiency
  • Strengthened collaboration between public, private, and civil society actors
